According to a Health Charity Organization, the fault lies in the care they receive
Although inequality between men and women has already been reduced in many fields, it still exists in others. For example, the British Heart Foundation ( BHF ) published a study in which it showed that women die of heart attacks that could be avoided if they were treated the same as men.
Women die of heart attacks that could be avoided with more attention
The BHF investigation showed that it is estimated that between 2003 and 2013 8,200 women died more than men. All this because of not having received the appropriate treatment. Likewise, they highlight that 2 females die a day in Wales and England unnecessarily for the same reason. That is, ignorance, lack of diagnosis and treatment.
The objective of this charity is to highlight that heart attacks also occur to women. In fact, according to their data, more females die from coronary disease than from breast cancer.
Women take longer to go to the hospital
To the fact that women die of heart attacks that could be avoided by a different care than men, it adds that these usually take longer to go to the hospital.
Men usually take between 1 hour and 24 minutes and 3 and a half hours to go to a medical center. In the case of the girls, these take between 1 hour and 48 minutes and 7 hours and 12 minutes.
In the same way that happens to men, women feel a pain in the chest before a heart attack . They can also suffer sweating, weakness, getting bad, bewilderment and shortness of breath. On less common occasions, excessive cough and / or anxiety symptoms may also occur.
In words collected by CNN , Dr. Sonya Babu-Narayan, Associate Medical Director of BHF, explained that “heart attacks have never been more treatable. However, women die unnecessarily because heart attacks are often seen as a male illness, and women do not receive the same standard of treatment as men. The studies detailed in this briefing have revealed inequalities at each stage of a woman’s medical trip. The reasons for this are complex. ”
