The gastroenteritis virus is the most frequent cause of outbreaks of gastroenteritis occurring when groups of people are affected at the same time and place.

Symptoms usually appear within a few days (viral and bacterial) or weeks (parasites) of infection and may include:

Nausea and vomiting ;

diarrhea ;

Abdominal pain;

Fever and chills;

Dehydration ;

Bloody stools;

Fatty stools.

Treatments For Gastroenteritis:

Most people with gastroenteritis recover within several days without the need for medical treatment as long as they remain properly hydrated. To help keep yourself comfortable and prevent dehydration while recovering, try the following:

Stop eating solid foods to let your stomach settle;

Avoid dairy products, caffeine, alcohol, nicotine ;

Avoid sugary, fatty or highly seasoned foods.
